So I'm doing a little bit of technology research about some things that could help locate and identify those MIA or missing persons. Ideally for remote locations and for those without access to any sort of technology and possibly no cell tower signals in range.
Disreguard for now potential scenarios involving deceased persons or signal blockers, as that would be separate projects to develop on their own.
So what I'm wanting to work on is a really nice system that will help locate those missing that have very little lead or resources turned up from investigations.
If you have any resources that you think could help or I'd find interesting, please point me in the right direction. I like RFID and infared of course, if only the two could be combined somehow. The infared is very helpful in locating people, but it cannot identify them. RFID signature is great because it is a unique ID, but it is unlikely a missing civilian person will have this or understand how to use it at the time they go missing, and in POW type situations, it would be taken from them. There is also the problem that neither of these scenarios will *likely* involve an opportunity to have access to the necessary technology to allow any sort of communication but, it could still be found if it was pingable. To what extent though, of course it's limited. Where as infared is much less likely to be as limited, and has very few limiting factors to it, it is too non-specific.
