I found this very amusing. I've watched a lot of these scenarios and its very rare that they are handled quite as smoothly as this. These people really knew what they were doing to try and avoid an arrest, and they did it like they had practice, most likely from previous encounters.
I'm honestly going to say, for not knowing what a warrant is, she really knew what she was doing from the very beginning as far as how to avoid an arrest.
If there were an "arrest diversion tactics" score board on every police traffic stop made, these folks would certainly have the highest tally. It's quite impressive actually. I was surprised.
As most people don't seem to really know what they're doing in this regard, and make about 20 mistakes that end up getting them in handcuffs within the first 30 seconds.
Arrest Diversion Tactics:
1. two license plates.
2. not rolling the window all the way down
3. sweet innocent young girl voice/confused look on the face to implicate no previous involvement with the law, confusion why a police officer would want to do with her, a law abiding innocent citizen (with a voice pitch higher than a 14 year old)
4. guy murmurs an excuse about the car setting up for a search and seizure already, claiming someone else is involved with the car. they could try to blame this imaginary person for drugs found in the vehicle). he did this before even asked any questions.
5. her sweet innocent voice goes away. "i'm going to be honest with you" was another tactic here. cops like honest from the beginning, and will let you get off with a lot just by being easy going, respectful, cooperative.
6. but this cooperativeness was a clever cover up to avoid getting identified as the woman who does indeed have a warrant out for her arrest. "i don't have the ID" surprise surprise. how convenient.
7. "what is a warrant???" lol "i've never heard of that, you must have the wrong person."
8. "my knee is fucked up, i can't do a sobriety test officer" she was lining things up already so she wouldn't have to walk the line.
9. she is holding her purse and took it with her. most people do not do this when they exit their vehicles. she already had it on her before the cop even asked her to step out of the vehicle as she knew it was coming. she is either trying to prevent them from finding drugs during a potential search coming, of the vehicle, or, she is concealing that she lied about her ID, and possibly her identity all together as there may be identifying information in there, stolen ID cards / credit cards, etc etc.
at this point, the officer should be concerning about the purse as there could be a weapon in there, and i'm surprised he didn't ask her to put the bag down, and then pat her down quickly. the cop is putting himself in danger here but letting her carry the purse as it's quick access to a lethal weapon of any sort.
10. protecting her friend by saying, "he's a very good friend of mine" and also setting it up to seem like they've known each other and that is why they are together. certainly not doing anything illegal like prostitution, buying drugs, or anything illegal of course. just two friends hanging out in the hood on a beautiful day. a GREAT friend. she's already prepared to protect this guy... and is trying to avoid them looking into him as he is clearly not sober, and it's not just alcohol he's on. narcotics.
11. anything illegal in the car? "shakes head no" certainly not, it's all in my purse. and my fake fiance just swallowed everything else.
12. fiance is swallowing something and washing it down with something to make it easier and look not suspicious. "just a thirsty guy" eh?
13. suddenly the man promotes himself from 'friend' of the girl to fiance. likely a prostitute he pays or something of that nature, they're clearly making up what their relationship is to cover up a nasty reality.
14. (thinks about it) "I've known her about a year" (he hasn't known her that long but doesn't want it to seem odd because he just said thats his fiance, so now he has to extend the length of time he's known her, but not too long of course, because that would be difficult to verify should something come up). he doesn't know this girl that well, and doesn't want to get caught in the lie. using a vague term as well here, "bout a year" so that when krystal is asked similar questions its easier to finnagle another lie out of it to cover up the fact they're lying.
15. "why are you in the hood" 'oh not to buy drugs, we are trying to go buy a phone at that specific building.' providing specifics that were not asked for is an indication of lying but, this was an effort on his part to appear more truthful. he already had an excuse lined up in his head, knew the area, and picked a place that could explain why he was here with her. he knew this question was coming. he's also thinking way ahead for after they are arrested when they ask to take their phones, they can say they don't have them as they were just going to buy phones. Which protects their contacts and dealers, and all the criminal activity evidence in them... helps them get off easier in court if this thwarting attempt was successful somehow. which it likely isn't, but, they still tried it didn't they.
to be continued.
