I'm saying that it hasn't been an issue for me, that I've otherwise had no problem discussing my life in those areas as well as other ones with them, be they ex, friendzone, or otherwise, by being open to them talking about their own.
I don't get how people feel like they can't. If you establish that it's an open rapport from the beginning, it becomes easier for both people to discuss their romantic interests with eachother, like any other 'type' of friend. Once they have, it opens up the room to tangent onto your own life in relation to theirs and opens up the room for reciprocity, for social bartering and the room to bond through that exchange.
I'd only see this as an issue if you selfishly didn't have the patience to listen to their situation.
