I do sympathize with people stuck in loops, but presenting it jarringly to their face usually leads to a discussion over said loops. At the very least it presents a foil for others to get more info from her in my stead.
Going soft has them just present their scripts, they need provocation to be honest or they'll just speak where they've settled, where they've adapted to be left alone. This is often why polite people are under the pretense that 'people are normal'.
