Why the forum is dying

Because the sensible members all left because they were sick of your illogical trolly bullshit, and so now your site is dying because none of you know how to actually upkeep a site properly, which is part of why you chased people off. It's also because you effect people in their real personal lives, and most people want a line between there online world and there real life, unless they choose otherwise for some aspects, and so you have chased off all the sensible people that way to, making it so only a complete idiot would really stick around on this site long term., Without leaving the site for long periods of time, and eventually disappearing. You have to have a balance, are you going to let people really say and do whatever the Fuck they want here without hunting them down and obsessing over them like you have nothing better to do, which chases off assholes, or just shit on everyone here like collectivist sheep, which chases off decent people. Cus you brilliant people seemed to have created a blend of the two- which eventually gets rid of everybody. So choose one.

It's been years of these people. I've seen it range from people who are bored and prone to catastrophizing to those who would prefer it's demise, I've seen it undergo PR attacks that were said to do lasting damages, yet somehow this forum still perseveres.

A few times I thought it wouldn't bounce back, and even then here we are. If the place dies of natural causes I can still say this place has survived far longer than I've formerly given it credit, and until then it's still decent even outside of it's hotspot times of year.

Much of what's lured people back is simply the notion of it's permanence; It at least warrants checking back up on every now and again. As long as the place is still physically here, there's always the potential for resurgence the likes of which we've seen multiple times already, and then when someone does some drama back on here all the sharks smell the blood and we're right back where we started.

Yes, but every time the site bounces back, we lost some of our main members- and we usually gain members pretty slowly. How many people will be left when the site bounces back this time? I mean- enough to really sustain the site? I mean I'll be fair, your a mod- there is little you can do to really change the websites culture, all you can actually do, is watch it happen and try your best as a moderator- but how far is the community willing to go as it tightrope walks the line between chasing off psycos and chasing off normal people and everything in between- until this site has no more members, because the little amount of members it has left is not enough to sustain itself? I have half a mind to come back temporarily to cause drama on this site to awaken it again so it doesn't fall. Every spring and summer, the site seems slightly less active. Sure people have a habit of coming here as their routine- blanc for example- but how long can a community live on that alone?

So find new members if you're really so worried about it, otherwise just wait like what usually works.

We've baited people in from multiple sites, and small clusters of them stick around. Even memetic reports on our site from other sites have drawn in some of the later crowd we've seen, like Crave and Peach.

It's easy to lose hope, and no person is bound here forever, but what surfaces from here still paves new chapters as a causal reflection of our prior chapters. Our lurker count from what I've gathered is also a bit higher than our activity count, especially once our escapades are reported on some forum or discord somewhere. It surprises me from time to time when I see discord randos able to recite drama from this place without having even said anything here.

If we're looking for more members, we just have to get others talking about us.

How many people will be left when the site bounces back this time?

We had it being accused of being a 'dead site' multiple times already, spanning back even to when Meta flipped out and shut the place down with some Kardassian footage to bolster his footing. Looking even further back to when this site still flexed a hyphen, Luna crashed the userbase hundreds of times and we ended up outlasting her.

Each time that it seems sensible to think there's no chance of this place's ressurection, it does it again like a Phoenix. At most there's room to complain about dry spells for however long they last and that the culture's prone to shifts in it's behavior based on the context of life politics and a constantly adjusting userbase.

We also have quite a lot of 'leavers' who come back, enough to the point that making jokes on their inevitable return's become more of a thing. I've straight up heard people going on about the place like it's an addiction or something, that it's taken them willpower to try to let go of the place. This place must have more of a pull than some random subreddit if it's leading to that sort of dramatic rhetoric.

I mean- enough to really sustain the site? Seriously, we've had dry spells way worse than this even back when this place was Nabble. Rather than sit here soothsaying if the site will or won't make it, I've decided on just watching what happens and doing what I can in the meantime.

It's lived a long life, and every time it sprawls on just a little bit longer it's a pleasant and warming surprise. If this place's death ever truly happens I'll just move onto another forum, as it's not like this place is my first one or something, and I could potentially drag others from here there if we ever get to the point of needing to piggieback another culture to survive.

I have half a mind to come back temporarily to cause drama on this site to awaken it again so it doesn't fall. Every spring and summer, the site seems slightly less active. Sure people have a habit of coming here as their routine- blanc for example- but how long can a community live on that alone?

Spring is pretty 50/50 based on the solstice and on if someone else is the spark of drama, but the urge is otherwise to go outside and enjoy it after having been cooped up all Winter.

Summer's usually pretty dry and boring here, but some injokes tend to carry it.

Fall has people acting a fool and making crazy, paranoid decisions, allowing the spark Spring otherwise needs to be near-constant. This is when the most breakups happen, the most arguments, and with it getting colder outside people become increasingly more withdrawn towards internet activities by comparison to Spring and Summer.

By Winter, the dramatics tend to not scale as loudly as Spring or Fall, but the attendance hits a localized consistency. SC is easy to have as part of a winter rotation of websites, so it usually reflects more consistent activity, but the intensity of the activity tends to be more laid back.

I hope your right and those are all very good points. I think what the site just needs right now, is some drama. A good dramatic spark to fuel it's life.
