do you really believe in magic? or are you just talking about headology and intentions and shit

I really believe in it. But not lighting candles or wicca or so.

My evil stepmother liked lighting candles and wicca. Bad memories from when I was a real boy.

It's a really good way to get stuck in magical thinking and the paranoia that just because someone doesn't like you or didn't do something for you they must be using black magic. That anything bad that happens to you in life must be a result of someone else wanting to topple you over with magic.

Just use white magic bruh, be the calm healing light you wish others would be and you will find reciprocity.

Choosing to interpret things as magic seems out of touch with reality to me, there is always a logical explination

That's pretty much been my stance, but you have to be willing to read some of the nutbar theories to filter them towards logic, like I've tried doing with symbology, color theory, astrology, and other 'mystic' things.

Even the craziest ideas come from somewhere, have some basis to them, and following the trail far enough can sometimes show where a logical grain of wisdom exists within the madness.

Still, just allowing yourself to call it "Magic" when they're mid-convo about it tends to have an easier time keeping them talking.

More people believe in it than you'd think.

I respect that you're able to do this, I'm historically terrible at engaging with people within the constrains of their delusions

it's different if it's someone I care about but I generally either have not enough energy to entertain the crazy of the general public or I take most things as a joke. Which has meant I've laughed at schizophrenics before because I didn't think they could unironically be saying what they were
