For some of you.

Beat your children, or else you'll lead them astray.

Usually I'd disagree with you on that, but I'm starting to see the logic.

First hand experience here.

The only time I was resentful about getting beat, is a time I was wrongfully beat.

In the heat of the moment a child is able to know if they are getting punished for a good reason, despite not wanting the beat down.

For example ( not me ), if some kid kicked his cousin in the balls, then his Father busted his ass for it, that child will not harbor any resentment toward the parent, and never will as long as they get dealt with over their own foolishness that brings shame to the parent.

2nd example. If the child was getting beat for reasons that were beyond their knowledge or control, they will harbor resentment and that is indeed abuse.

Corporal punishment is meant to bring the pain for the sake of immediate compliance, and not injury.

People who were abused or never needed corporal punishment both insist that beating a child for any reason is abusive.

Not everyone needed/needs corporal punishment, but if a parent doesn't dish out the hard lesson to their child, the world will, and those two beauties right there are either much better now, or they will continue to pierce themselves.
