i found a frog on the asphalt when i was 11 or so and carried it to a pond. i like to think i saved it. at least that was the intent
*happy frog noises*
in elementary school my grandfather gave me a jar full of tadpoles. about half of them escaped and died. for weeks id find dead little half frogs with legs everywhere, but the rest became frogs. i did not want that many so i released them (i lived in the middle of a desert) and kept two which stayed with me for like 10 years. however at the end i got tired of dealing with them and they starved

Finding little dead guys all over would upset me. You really have no excuse to let two frogs starve 10 years after elementary school, you should have found a new habitat for them if you couldn't care for them anymore
Releasing them into a desert was a bad idea too depending on the type of frog
My 80's childhood consisted of catching these. It was a skill cause these ones were lightning fast, so I had to sneak up on them and snatch them from the pond.
I stopped doing it when I had a dozen of them and they escaped, and a neighbor ended up slicing one with her lawnmower. Now I have a bit of a complex when it comes to abducting animals from the wild.

poor little fellas, but I did similar things as a kid. I used to catch little lizards and put them in my lunch box to take home. that is until one fateful day in summer when I opened my lunchbox up to check on the lil guy and he was dead... I was heartbroken and never caught another
