Thoughts on Banning from Facebook, Twitter, etc

This butthurt banning of conservatives is so hilarious. I'm not even a conservative, lol.

OMG don't say something bad about the vaccine, you're a conspiracy theorist.

OMG don't say anything about the virus coming from a lab in China, fuck no, that's racist.

Dangerous suppression of free speech, when free speech is labelled as conspiracy theory.

In one way, the bannings are a good thing, the monopolies are falling, the banned are going elsewhere.

People are see how ridiculous these thin skinned totalitarian leftist are.

In another way the bannings are bad, each site will just become an echo chamber of similar ideas.

Debate and sharing ideas is a good thing.

It's okay that people don't agree. Don't get your identity and feelings tied up in your politics.

Reminds me of CCP "free speech", speech is free only if I agree with what is being said. lol

Silicon Valley is known to be left-leaning. Project Vertias did some pretty good undercover interviews speaking to the people who manage what content is acceptable on these various platforms. The veracity of these videos can be up for question, but I'm thinking they're accurate. If you want to see how the algorithms are working, do a Google image search for "white woman." Then do one for "black woman." See if you notice anything.

You are being naive if you think this is NOT about partisan politics. You are obviously listening to the main stream media. Maxine Waters, Democrat is the one inciting violence, not Trump. Wake up! They banned Trump because they hate him.

I think the "algorithms" are just an excuse. In cases, they are real people with beefs against whoever is posting. There is no doubt in my mind this is the case. I'm not saying the the algorithms does not exist, just that people are also to blame.

"Disinformation"  is another word for, I don't like what you are saying.

So twitter staff banned Trump because they hate him and not that he violated TOS, makes sense

Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes, Beardson Beardly, TV KWA (possibly), soph...just a few examples of deplatforming. All in the name of what is "right information." It even happened to the president on Twitter. I'm not totally aligned with the politics of these people, but I feel like in a democracy, all opinions are supposed to have a voice.

not really weird at all that they would ban a president after violating their TOS

though it should only be temporarily suspension, 2 weeks or a month

The thing about this is that it's not about the individual voice, but rather the corporate one, what it says to allow people to say these things on your platform. What is said on that platform is considered representative of the platform, hence why every single post on 8kun reads:

Disclaimer: this post and the subject matter and contents thereof - text, media, or otherwise - do not necessarily reflect the views of the 8kun administration.

Every. Single. One.

While I don't like that social media platforms are policing this shit, we have to remember that they as a website are more like a company, and that the things they don't cover their asses for could get them into trouble over what other people are doing, like how a webhost could be held responsible for hosting content that could be considered 'inciting'.
