a completely random video will be selected by YouTube’s algorithm and pushed out in waves to millions of people onto their home pages as recommended videos 

that is irrelevant to the normal content they watch. 

and it does it to these select videos sort of cyclically so it’ll get pushed out in 2016 and then again in 2020 then wait five months and it’ll do it again but to a different wave of users 

sort of like a fisherman casting a net into a different area of the sea 

and it is usually videos that were uploaded a very long one ago. And there’s nothing about them that makes sense for them to be viral it’s just somehow they’ve broken the algorithm completely

they wash up on the shore like hidden gems of YouTube for people and come only one at a time like a shooting star very randomly. It’s not an everyday thing. 

all the comments are usually about the fact they were recommended it and it was random and they’re recognizing the oddity in the situation 

what are these mystery ‘random recommended’ YouTube videos? 

also I’d been interested to see his explanation of the shorts because I’ve been recommended so much weird stuff because of those and also stories.
