Aeryn wasn't a superhero.
She was just a cop. Space cop in a SF show 20 years ago.
I think her species was written as slightly stronger than humans, physically. But not by much.
She was just a very well trained fighter and marksman.
She was also proficient with other weapons.
Xena was a demi god, like Achilles.
One of my neo pagan friends turned me on to the show when it originally aired on prime time tv.
It was the subject of much discussion and controversy at my church bc the writers took such extreme liberties with our legends.
But I was not a Classics major. Some of my Odyssean friends were, and their stress veins popped out of their wee bespectacled foreheads when they watched the show lol
I always loved it, tho. Ironically and unironically. I found it true to the spirit of Joseph Campbell's work.
