lol I do remember Tony talking about Bitconnect a lot but we all get things wrong. It is easy to get caught up in noise, though.
One thing I respect about him is that he believes in Crypto generally and has been correct about the overarching trend of its growth as a set of products. I recall people laughing at him and I too gave him a hard time but time has shown that in so far as crypto having value, he won that argument.
It makes me regretful on how much BTC I bought drugs with instead of holding, I left went through something 150k+ of btc back when it was between 400-1000. Should have held some.

I look at my localbitcoins.com account and see that I traded over 2K bitcoin from 2015 to 2017 just scamming faggots, buying drugs, and gambling. Could have been chilling in a hong kong mansion getting top from 15yo lolis but I decided to be a faggot. Live and learn.

I was on the fence with Bitconnect, and my discussions revolved around it in that regard. At the time I was occupied with GPU mining and was more interested in accumulating ETH and trading it for Bitcoin.
The reason why I was on the fence with Bitconnect, is because I was able to see it was actually working. Investors were making their daily 1% returns with the option to convert their acquired BCC into BTC. At the same time people like Vitalik and others called it a ponzi scheme, even the top promoters said it can end 1 day and the BCC would crash to 0.
At the time Obama said how we can't have everyone walking around with a swiss bank account in their pocket, Texas banned Bitconnect, and the site suffered multiple Ddos attack forcing it's demise.
Bitconnect was unable to recover. Top Promoters would make videos in distress saying things like "Don't sell your BCC" but that never mattered. Bitconnect's coin went from $400 to $2 in 3 days or so.
People were pissed from getting rekt, others gleefully gloated with "I told you so" but in my opinion the fall of Bitconnect is a sad thing for the space.
