And looking at more color matching eyebrows for abnormal color, i definitely prefer the mismatched 

What makes it work?

To me it's mismatched in ways that throw off the shape of the face, making it overall less pleasing to the eye. I figure hair color's meant to sell that that is the color of your hair, even when you pick anime colors, and that by not dying your brows or other facial hair to match that you're effectively breaking the illusion. 

I think it's that jarring effect that you're getting, I like it while you're like "one of these things aren't like the others one of these kids are dead" about the color consistency. It makes it stronger and stand out more. 

Also i think it's hard to sell that you're naturally a pink or blue haired person even if you do dye the brows

The face is a single canvas though, not a wall of paintings. If a part doesn't match then it's like someone sneezing on a portrait.

Easier to sell than if the brows were brunette. 

 That looks ugly as fuck, it looks like fuzzy felt glued on

That's more on how fuzzy his brows are than the color, and if we were to compare it with brunette:
