We had a tornado (hurricane? Idk the diff) here in California 😭

tornado is a spinny funnel in the sky. Hurricanes is a large band of storms forming two interlocking C’s... sort of making an S. and in the center of the S, there is a hole. Like a donut. it looks like a donut. 

a very large spinning donut... that covers a lot of land at once. The storm itself is very intense and high winds. 

a tornado is like one stick, but a hurricane is like a plate that covers huge amounts of land mass at one time as it moves over it. 

also tornados can touch down or can shorten their long vertical stick form. So sometimes in the sky if looks like an upside down thumb (do a thumbs down with your hand) (this means it has not touched down not affecting land yet, not destructive) and other times it looks more like a funnel and that’s because it is stretching all the way down has touched down affecting land and is destructive. 

sometimes the funnel is more large, and this makes it a more dangerous one. So if the funnel is skinny, it’s less bad (but still bad) and if it’s very wide, it’s very very bad.
