I would add that true positivity is rooted in healthy realism where you don't polish shit, you call things for what they are and allow yourself to feel bad once in a while. sometimes life hurts and thats okay too

everything I said is utter projection, make of it what you will

I just want to say that there's plenty of plants that thrive on neglect, you really just gotta give them the basic air, sun and water. On occasion fertilizer for that nutrition but if your soil is shit or salted there's very little that can grow.

Also some flowering plants/vines are invasive species that can strangle other things around it causing it to kill everything else around it so it alone can grow.

Some weed are very pretty tho! Nothing wrong with weeds and or weed.

Yeah, a lot of weeds are medicinal. Don't you do metaphors, Lena?

 Yeah but

Neglect to feed it with said thoughts, and weeds will grow in their place in abundance.

So wouldn't you prefer to grow medicinal weeds you can use instead of just pretty flowers that serve no purpose other than to look pretty and die in the fall/winter seasons?

I would (prefer medicinals) - but it was a metaphor

As stated on a previous post, some things go without saying. Balance is key, obviously. Call it Yin & yang, or whatever, but I'd some it up like this...

"Unless you've spent time in the dark, you cannot truly know light."

This ancient philosophy has been hijacked by the new age movement, which is a massive shame.

The human mind is like a garden.

Tend to it regularly (with thoughts of gratitude), and your colourful flowers will flourish.

Neglect to feed it with said thoughts, and weeds will grow in their place in abundance.

Negative is the mind's default.

Choose wisely.

Preach. You create the reality you live in and have full control over who you keep and what you have, you are in charge of your life. Things can be as miserable or as happy as you want them to be. I think theres a fatalistic philosophy taking over the west where people are convinced they are powerless and hopeless.

Yeah.  We should all just decide to think positive!  Maybe if we join hands and sing, we can solve world hunger and nuclear standoff. : D

`You create the reality you live in`

I guess reading gets worse with age, grandma

I live in a world with real problems that can't be solved by ignoring them, whippersnapper.

Im sure life is really terrible and dangerous on social benefits and safe streets of Amerikka.

My point is that, you have a great degree of control over things that involve YOU and your closed ones, and also full control over your perception. Very few problems are unsolvable, and things like kids starving in africa are not really your problem.

Also I dont know why but you calling me whippersnapper was carved deeply into my mind, I thought about it a few times over the years. It left its mark on me.

Why is it a shame that new age trains of thought take from ancient philosophy? This way, more people are familiarised with ancient wisdom.

Besides if someone indulges in this stuff then they should end up learning about the ancients anyways. If they don't then that means it's not in their nature to seek wisdom beyond the practical

and that's totally fine

Shouldn't matter, right?  I make my own reality. : P

No one has any control of their perception.  If you're able to go into denial by choice, neither the ability nor the inclination are yours by choice.  We're chemically hardwired to process data in the ways we do.  Furthered by a childhood conditioning that is equally out of our hands.  I would by extension say that we have little to no control of anything in life.  Just the illusion of it, based on nothing but the sensation of said process occurring at all.  "We think, therefore we create" is a very short-sighted, self-indulgent way to view the human condition.

lol I'm strangely flattered, but I probably shouldn't be.  Latent craving for granny vag?

i do not think negative is the minds default. As a cognitive behavior therapist I would argue that there is no default pole, everything is learned through human experience. So your default mode depends to a large extent on the experiences you have made.
