in the games u can duplicate ur pokemon with potentially better moves and stuff by breeding them but u need 2 of the same pokemon 1 male and 1 female in order to do so. ditto can breed with anything regardless of species or sex so whoring out ur one ditto to all ur pokemon to farm is common

In the later games you could blend cross-species, allowing you to for example teach Horsea Octozooka by breeding it with an Octillery.
I like that they added some breeding splashover like that, but it will never be on par with Monster Rancher nor Jade Cocoon.

Very common, it even duplicates your moves which, in games where TMs weren't reusable, you could get more longevity out of one through babies.
