What makes it toxic, how they treat each other or how they spread to other communities?
I'd say toxicity is predicated on the level of deception and backstabbing among the members to eachother as well as the presence of pedophilia, scamming, predatory behavior, ect. So the most toxic communities in my opinions are smaller because they allow more targeted attacks... but they can exist among larger sites (like subcommunities within youtube)
There was a place called stickam back in 2007 if I am not mistaken that it was basically a SC but with the webcam on of each user, and instead of trolling on chat we could just use our mic. And it was crazy because there would be 12 little windows at a time with 12 people talking if the mods didnt mute. However it worked quite well as even during trolling people would wait their turn.
And yes way more toxic than here.

I've never seen another site where multiple libellous members will invent criminal allegations against one or a few members who have done nothing, and fill pages and pages of the forum with said allegations.
That is some pretty foul and disrespectful behaviour.
In certain rl circles, the sort of false criminal allegations that these ppl repeat constantly will get w/e rumour mongering shitbag spreading them killed.
Hell yes. You've heard "snitches get stitches," well ppl who LIE when they snitch die like a bitch.
I'm surprised that a bunch of ppl claiming to be such badasses don't grasp that.
