I remember that I was curious and internet was only 56k dial up modem that would crash if some stupid fucker called you.

It’s crazy to remember shit was tough like that

I was but a small child, and I was super curious, I would google and yahoo back and forth, would do downloads that could take me a week to a month for a single song. Lol, kids nowadays have the obligation to skip some IQ numbers thanks to us. We made information easy, any fucker can learn anything on youtube, there is no excuses for kids today not to excel and tower shadow us.

It wasn't so bad, most of the webpages loaded so little data that it wasn't too taxing on the lines.

I mostly used it to play Archmage and Flash games when I was seven.

They still have to be able to discern which sources are and aren't reliable, which frankly I believe needs to be taught.

I think we need some elderly people in here.

What would we gain from more boomers?

before I was on the internet I would write my own texts and save them on floppy disks

I know, shocking right? (Sarcasm)

It was like tiny whispers of thought that I didn’t want anyone to know I felt or thought but I just wrote it out and then kept it to myself on these floppy disks I carried around.

like I would physically hold them. Because I liked the way they felt. I dunno.

kind of like how millenials are always phone in hand but I was weird kid with floppy disk in my pocket

bulging out awkwardly. I dunno.

injust thought it was cool. Like it’s hard to explain but I liked the feel and the aesthetic of it, when you open it up on the computer and see all ur text in that computer-y looking format

also the physical disks I had were cooler colors for the first time. They’d always been boring colors but I really liked the colorful disks and just thought they were cool cuz they were something new

it became a comfortable secret place for me to hide my thoughts away

and uh... so I guess I’ve always been this way.

ive been writing like this all my life just on different formats

Basically, the more I think about it the more I realize, not much has changed

My life was pretty boring when I was 8 or 9. I lived out in the middle of nowhere, all I had for fun was walking in the woods. We got a computer and a 56k modem and I was instantly hooked.

The first thing I realized is that I could find anything I wanted to. So naturally porn came first, but that progressed onto finding chat sites. Yahoo Chat, AOL Chat and mIRC were big at the time. I started finding like-minded people and meeting all kinds of folks.

The Internet had helped me realize that the people who were trying to educate me or think one way or another were operating on their own narrow paradigms. I met people who totally changed the way I thought about everything. I also realized there was a space where I could freely meet people who are somewhat like me. That's why I'm here today.

I think the internet made me less content with doing one thing at once. And I get anxious when I'm not connected because most of my interactions are online. I sleep, shower and shit with my phone.
