The show's main characters are all Leftist sympathy demographics demonstrated through archetypal tokenism, and the lens of cause and effect follow leftist guidelines, but the plot is largely a sad tale in spite of this.
They even have a trans person who's treated as magic, the modern version of the chill psychic gay friend trope, but it's not all optimism and happy endings within rigid guidelines to try to have us model off of them as ideal peers, but rather it uses this lens to show tragedy and adaptation.

That’s funny, TC. I just saw the show as gratuitous (free) drugs and sex, not unlike my high school experience and so it hit very close to home.
I wouldn’t say the characters were particularly left-leaning. You get the stratified experience from single parent household Rue to wealthier- Nate. Unfortunately I tuned out where it was set (1st episode) but seems like Austin or Portland, and not a very wealthy suburb overall —— at least by my experience ;) Apparently the Clintons liked this series and the trans actor, so I can see why you might attribute leftist mores to it.

The only one who isn't is the one you had a crush on, who was otherwise presented as a villain for his jock-like behavior and was given a redemption arc for how he could "become a better person" through embracing leftist freedoms.

The right when it tries to write plots appeals to an entirely different set of sympathies and demographics, and it's sense of cause and effect play out very differently.
It's similar to how 13 Reasons Why is a blatant piece of leftist writing.

I love love the party scene where he’s in making -out -distance from Jules and she flares her nostrils at him ultimately brandishing a knife with which she cuts her arm thereby remembering herself to the school as the one who cut at a party.
Isnt he dreamy. Admittedly I quit after six of eight episodes and didn’t see what happened after Alexa meets up with him at the hotel after her family accused him of rape. Can you tell me?
