The earliest documentation of the notion of Earth being a sphere dates around 2,500 years ago, and since around 600 to 700 AD it was treated as an accepted fact by scholars. The whole "Flat Earth theory" is mostly backed by religious sources and some photographers who think themselves mathematicians.
