Theory: Ping pong balls (usually) come in packs of 6. David Lynch used one pack for the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, &7, then used 4 balls from another pack for numbers 6, 8, 9, &10. Manufacturing discrepancies made balls in the latter pack lighter, thus keeping them near the top/ near the center of the centrifuge when spun, thus more likely to be picked.
