My all time favorite neurosurgery video:
On the topic of your question—Why are they not afraid? The brain is pretty mapped out, they know the risk when they go in. There's a lot of training that goes into it, and good equipment as well. So pre-surgery, the risks are known. Sometimes shit does get botched, but if you're at the point where you're seeing a neurosurgeon, chances are you're hanging in between life and death already anyways.
