do you suffer from it? how do you react when ignored for a long time?
I find that women start lashing out and get frantic to the point of attacking everyone just to get it back. It's really funny to watch.

Instead of seeking it out I kinda just regress into less social patterns. If anything I have to kinda remind myself that it's good for me to seek it.

There's always the lurkers.
We're human, and humans are social creatures. I try not to be oppressive about my interactions, but I also enjoy communication. Which in a sense involves attention. If I'm ever feeling neglected, that's when it's time to make new friends. That also helps me not be too demanding of any one person.

That's a good attitude. For me it's really sad when someone starts being annoying or attacks people just to get acknowledged, it tells me that they are very needy and desperate, I like strong independent people.
Most if not all people are desperate for attention, it's just that some are more self aware and better at handling it than others. In the end it comes down to how well you c o p e
I guess going all hermit-monk could be seen as overcompensating for the problem in the opposite direction.
