I would recommend to take a one way trip to HK or Tokyo or wherever you are going first and then buying tickets locally bouncing from city to city as they are nearby (i.e from hong kong to manila philippines, then to bali, then to bangkok etc). Wayyyyyy cheaper then booking multi-city, they rape you in fees.

Yeah... I ended up with some travel plans canceled over all of this too. 

Quite a stagnant year personally, but it's historical I guess.
