Greece is backed heavily by France, but Germany is still trying diplomacy at the moment. Two nato members pointing guns at each other is not good. Likely neither party wants war, even though Turkey's domestic politics has become extremely nationalistic in the last year, with an aggressive foreign policy like their campaign in Syria. If it comes to that Turkey will be up against Greece backed by the majority of Europe. It's interesting to think of the Chinese and Russian's reactions as well.

It's serious imo but it would be surprising if it led to war.

It stems from Turkeys need for oil and gas while on the verge of a currency crises, instability always breeds conflict.

It's serious because the Turks feel left out, they have a large coastline but the Greeks own all of the islands in the Aegean so the Turks have little ground to stand on when it comes to the natural resources there. But like Alice said, a war is highly unlikely considering both countries are Nato members and nobody involved would benefit from one.
