Three Seasons
I binged this series over the last few weeks. It is a decent show if you like true crime you might like it though I feel like it is more emotional in plot than clinical, and is geared toward women.
It was refreshing seeing no misogyny in the work place, and even a lesbian couple that wasn’t fetishized or dramaticized but portrayed very realistically.
The characters tropes were airing on the less cheesy side and were very well developed. The main actors of the show really did an excellent job and you will see their talent really continue to come out more and more as the series unfolds.
There is brief moments of cheesiness, it is a Hollywood dressed up version of FBI events that are very much, unrealistic- but the plot is still very interesting and detailed- more complex to follow so it’s not as predictable as some shows I’ve seen, less predictable anyway.
Season 2 however, was a meme. Lol. The entire thing just, was luke warm and, a little boring.
but in season three they really brought it. So, though it is just a stupid very fictional BAM BAM FBI show WE HAVE GUNS WOOSH! EXPLOSIONS!
it was still good to watch and kept me entertained.
The main character of the show, is relatable but, a little bit “charactery” and has some cliches- I wish they would of dialed it down a bit. But it was still very interesting.
It was only briefly seductive at times and the main theme of the show isn’t sex or romance, there is mild mild hints of it compared to most of what comes out of hollywood so I really appreciate that.
I think this is honestly a chic flux version of an FBI show kind of like how Gone Girl was a chic flic of a noir thriller. Meaning it just seems to be written to very much appeal to the female fantasy and Popular female lines of thought. They’re giving people a reality they want to see, that isn’t- actually real.
So I could see a lot of men maybe noticing that, and getting bored because it’s not geared toward the male fantasy as much
However I will say that it is really appealing and refreshing to see that the male characters are so well developed and have a full display of emotions- instead of being card board dating fucking machines for women with collared shirts as charisma. They broke down that male stereotype wall that men aren’t human and don’t get as emotional as women, and show the more raw, realistic and vulnerable- human. Side to men.
The character nick for example he might feel a little stiff in season 1 but by season 3 you will be blown away with his acting skill and how “real” he gets. I was really impressed with his performance in season 3. When you watch it you will know which scene I’m talking about when you see it.
Don’t want to spoil anything!
Season 3 was very remiscent of like James Bond and Jason Bourne
without getting too “Jessica Jones” on us.
the show even highlights real world crisis like refugee crisis and viruses, which is very relevant and makes it feel so fucking real at times.
So it’s nice the criminal cases surround real issues in the world rather than just, gotta catch bad guys!!! Boom boom car chase machine guns hostages bank robbers boom boom mafia bosses and strippers oooo
no none of that glamorized bull shit. It gets very freaky though, the type of crime they investigate is more mind bending and, bizarre, unexpected. Rather than classic crime cases. It’s like, it’ll make you go what the fuck?
I like how season three had a super glam scene in a mansion and there is a lot of undercover operations going on which I always like to see
The FBI agent who hides is more interesting than the ones who walk around with a vest and a big hat on that says FBI.
If you like the rogue agent trope you will like this, and in season one there was a lot of like “burnt out FBI agent vibes” but they dialed that way down in season 2 and 3 thankfully because in my opinion that is too cliche

Im the kind of person who likes action adventure mystery thrillers and true crime
and I also love noir thrillers and don’t mind a little bit ofhorror as long as it isn’t just grotesque gore (although I laugh at most horror movies because they’re dumb lol)
so that gives you a frame of reference.
like, I like American horror story and that kind of shit.

something else I will say is it’s not thick on the political agendas like a lot of Netflix series are dumped so heavily in leftist liberal bull shit that it’s actually nauseating
it doesn’t bother you with blatant agendas for ratings which is nice
and it’s not disgusting. I don’t know how to put it like, but some shows get too dark- or too, foul- with like trash writing including such trashy things that lower the class of the show
it’s not foul and rude I think it’s done pretty tastefully.
the egocentrism around the main character is also significantly low which made it so much more interesting. Like in Sherlock for example it’s always all about Sherlock and everything is just literally about him basically
but this focus spreads out across many characters and multi dimensional simultaneously occurring plots that coincide so it’s like watching the whole picture come together rather than just like focusing on how bad ass one person is with their big shiny guns lol
the main character is a little on the edgier side, in season 2 they made her look like a lesbian trying to make her too edgy but in season 3 they dialed that back again so
don’t like, stop watching it during season 2 just get through it so you have the necessary background
I almost stopped watching it at season 2 because it bombed compared to season 1 IMO but season 3 was so good and I’m glad I wound up watching it and didn’t miss out on it
