This ?

weeaboo/weeb/weab = a person who is of the belief that the Japanese culture is so much better than their own culture that they have to intersperse Japanese into their speech, think anime/manga is some higher art form, and that Japan in general is some perfect holy land.

I don't insert it into my daily life, or worship it.

Being a digital artist I've taken pride in Canada being the great animators of the world.

I don't know how many Japanese words I know, but I can probably count it on my hands.

I don't dislike Japanese stuff either. I have a taste for Japanese Motorcycles.

Anyone who thinks I'm a weeb, hasn't been around for very long, or if they were around for awhile then they are special.

You had the lightest roast topic of anyone. But you were the only one who felt this strong of a need to defend yourself. Ponder and get back to me.

I wouldn't call it a weeb... but what would someone refer to someone as if they watch shit like Thundercats religiously enough to buy the sword?

 lol

Dude that sword took 4 months to make, and no I'm not the owner.

Thundercats is something I watched as a child in a world where there was no internet. I watched 2 episodes of the reboot, cause I never liked what they did with it.

Correction, he made it. Posted Image

I kind of wish I'd been born earlier sometimes, mostly for the arcade machines.

Yeah me neither, the spirit of it was neutered out in favor of expected tropes of the times.

Arcade machines in this day and age are so impractical. You can still find them but why bother. The mobile device in your pocket will run the same game for free if you really wanted it to.

It's the atmosphere of it. Same reason anyone still goes to libraries. l0l

The experience of it, plus when it was all that was around they served as a place to gather together and compete. The games were also simple enough that it didn't take much to drag other people into it, and the competitive aspect for getting the high score was grapevine street cred. Even cheat codes and tricks weren't published online, so any of those tricks came from magazines and word of mouth, or discovering it for yourself. It was a more pioneering stage that was more fun from not being a streamlined asocial experience yet.

Nowadays for proper local competition you have to go to a convention where they charge you before you've even stepped through the door.

...that is, in the US anyway. Japan still gets how awesome arcade machines can be, both for retro and future games (Console Dissidia on a LAN with specialized controls, First Person Shooters that shake and sneeze on you to make it feel atmospheric, it's good shit).
