You saved your life, he's just the tool you used to do it.

Holding out for? So you aren't on SSI or something like it currently?

My reccomendation is to file for it anyway. While you have a job they'll deduct from disability if not outright have it in a temporary coma while you're working. Once you have to stop for any reason (like losing your job), if it happens to take you longer to get the next job or you can't compel yourself to work the SSI payments can resume with far less effort than it took the first time to register yourself for it from your already being in the system.

It'll be harder to prove you can't work if you're, well, working, but that doesn't make someone exempt from SSI, it just gives them probable cause for suspicion. If you have disabilities registered into the system, that won't otherwise disappear. You could also do untaxed, unreported, under the table work for additional income... buuuut it's technically illegal and if they notice they'll find ways of getting that money back.

Here in Ohio anyway, if you're having to pay rent and are unmarried, people you live with's income won't count against your income total and you get an extra $200 a month for not living rent-free. Not sure how it is where you are, but it's still worth putting in the work to help supplement times where you're less than you'd like to be. It can take a while, but again it only takes a while the first time. If you already have diagnostic paperwork as well it can speed things up notably (or at least it helped me anyway).

shit. for all I know I would only be able to keep the job for a couple of weeks(based on how long I lasted at my previous job). I'm on my second disability application appeal and it's ridiculous bc of my psychiatric history. If I have to apply again I will have a lawyer
