Wonder if usually the moment of clarity would come a little while after the kill rather than during. Way more tragic lul
The death in this case is probably more mental than physical, and slow rather than quick. It's watching the death of one's potential as this sociopath focuses entirely on themselves.
Still, heart's out to the OP, no one should have to watch something like this happen to their own child.
