Remember when Fanfic had an odd phase about kidnapping the author insert character? 

Predatory behavior is seen as the modern "alpha", and is much of how 50 Shades trended as hard as it did. If people wanted a movie where two kinky people actually love eachother they'd have watched The Secretary instead. 

Manipulation through stages.

At first the vampires manipulate you to suck your blood while you're unaware they're doing that.

Then they would hypnotise you to suck your blood while you *are* aware.

And at the end, they turn you into one of them.

How is this appealing lol. This is exactly what being used by someone works. When you like vampires, you're basically saying that you like the idea of this whole dynamic.

It's seen as courting, an old fashioned and dying trend. If you were just a matter of their appetites they'd drain you dry and use you as a ghoul or mind thrall instead. In a society where we're told to "be all you can be" and "be an individual", many have fetishized the idea of not being in control as a response to it. 

The idea of exchanging fluids to become like them's the biggest part, and is how it is easy to compare with things like HIV. Both even refer to it as "the dark gift" in kinkier circles.
