Apparently it wasn't well-received.

I figured over being in control of what someone does like some sort of creepy e-stalker, and it being called "Gamer Girl" is also arguably demeaning, but I didn't expect 498 replies to this:

For something like this to be accepted, we'd need a male protagonist. In today's progressive world we can't be outright telling a woman what to do unless it's in the first person, even if she's a digital FMV following a choose your own adventure. This is essentially "Mansplaining, the Videogame", but in a pseudo-Chaturbate format. The suggestion over "the man" being in charge in a way that "keeps her safe" is very classic male fantasy, it's bordering on being fetish-y.

It'd definitely help if said male protagonist were also white or asian, as otherwise it's rude. In a world where everyone is 'equal', we're only allowed to have those who've been 'equal' the longest be the subject of such things without it being seen as setting us back. While equality is a human right, the privilege of it is more about our history.

The amount of hate isn't that surprising when you consider the "Just Chatting" section of Twitch. A lot of the viewer hype for female streamers is based on their physical attractiveness, and their ability to roll with the chat (and not get embroiled with every mean comment).  And if the woman plays into the culture, people will even be calling her "mom," and sending tons of donations.

There's a fair amount of people in the current community that chastise "simp" behavior. Donating to millionaires is a whole other subject, but let's focus on donating for a hit of attention. You pay $5 and get a text-to-speech read out of your message, and a response to it that is as meaningful as the 10 seconds as it exists in. It means practically nothing, but people are so lonely that it works. There are women that milk this for monetary gain. No shame on their game, but that's the reality.

I think there is a culture pushing back against the kind of behaviors I mentioned, and they seen something that looked like an attempt to validate or solidify the trajectory of how things are going. Hence the bad reviews, etc.
