what do you think of the new wild child color pop collection?
is this a new 'that's taupe' hit trend?
too soon to tell, launches on 1/21

curious to try the ordinary concealer... O.o what's she all about?
Colourpop Wild Child collection
So Colourpop's "supposed" racism was kinda justified imo today. For years people have been saying that Colourpop only releases light colors and bright colors, but not colors that work for dark skin tones. Without directly saying anything racist colourpop has basically just said they dont release many deep colors because they don't sell well. This quietly but obviously branches off of more mainstream makeup brands outright saying (when confronted with the same accusations) that they dont release many deep colors because they go unsold, because black women dont buy as much makeup as white women.
Well colourpop gave the people what they asked for with this week's release, the Wild Child collection (which is basically a deeper version of their best-selling light neutrals collections, Going Coconuts, but in giraffe print [which associating wild animals with women of color is a whole other advertising trend that companies are getting called out for now so that was brave of them])
Any advid colourpop fan knows that collections will regularly sell out of multiple items on release day, usually the Full Collection value sets won't even last an hour after they drop. We are now 9 hours past release and every item of this collection is still in stock.
This isn't the most shocking part. The entire collection is marked down 25% off (and new collections, never qualify for sales)
Additionally, today the At Forrest Sight collection was restocked. This isn't even a new release, this is the 3rd restock of collection that came out in November. You know, one of those "horrible, racist pastel palletes that don't show up on black people"
and when I checked 4 hours after launch there were already items sold out. None of the items in this collection qualify for the 25% off sale today.
So what we can see here, is that even on sale, on release day, the products that sjw's begged, and pleaded for, and went on strike over, and made 60 hours of youtube videos angrily demanding, specifically for black women, couldn't sell as well as a normal colourpop collection release OR even sell as well as an item that has been out for 2 months already.
Sounds less like racism, and more like capitalism. Colourpop makes what sells. *sips tea*
If you have difficulty with colors showing up on a client if you put it on top of a blank base or a colored base, the colors show up better. Same with shimmers being ‘bad’ quality, they’re workable, if you just spray the brush with some setting spray and pack it on rather than swipe it. You get the same effect as a Natasha Denona quality pigment formula.
Regardless, asking for a higher pigmentation formula and dark skin friendly only palettes is completely understandable and I think to settle the issue they should just release two palettes at the same time. Identical concepts, but one palette is the original formula, and the other is deeper version of all the shades. A re-work.
I think if there is demand for it, why not create it. They can always try stocking 50k palettes as oppose to their normal 500k per launch etc. and see how it goes test the water. If it goes well, just re-stock when you run out.
So that way you don’t waste money for the company by over producing vs. the demand for the product.

another interesting idea would be to make the option to receive a high pigmentation tube of gel, or it could even be a spray on formula similar tot he setting spray. Similar to a mixing medium that is used by proMUA’s (this concept is in makeup by Mario’s collection)
and then you mix the formula into your shade and it allows the pigment to deepen and pop in color more.
(trigger warning, she does mention death and covid in this video, a covid related death so. just skip to @5:41 if that makes you uncomfortable)
oh my god her nails. the whole time she is talking I'm just mesmerized by those sparkling beautiful nails.
I have to see them up close and know who did them. oh my god.
she's lucky to live in Vegas, I love Vegas. (but I would miss my area for sure and the beaches)
just a warning here this makeup style is very Avantgarde and is not for the faint of heart
it's likely not everyone's style but that's beside the point okay...
the actual products, is what it's about and from what I can see
the urban decay tint-foundation thing is a hot mess, the fenty powder is beautiful, the Mario highlighter is meh, the kosas concealer is beautiful, the Kim chi setting powder is great for brightening, and those MELT CONTOUR STACKS ARE LITERALLY BEAUTIFUL.
I was really impressed by the melt stacks. at first I thought that it looked a little red or pink, undertone, but then when you diffuse with the lighter contour shade it all comes together and looks very natural.
I can't tell how good setting spray in on camera. and I'm just, ignoring the lip and eyes because he didn't review any products there for some reason.
thomas doesn't do 'natural' makeup or 'everyday' makeup on camera very often so, yeah just. you've been warned don't come at me with a pitch fork about it. everyone likes different things and different styles of doing makeup. I don't mind that.
I just wanna know about the products and Thomas always gives the real tea.
I've been refreshing the colourpop page like crazy trying to be the first person on there when the valentines day launch restocks.
i took a few days break from like checking my social media and i missed the hint that the colorpop valentines day launch was dropping, so i missed the drop, and then by the time i found out that it did, it was literally sold OUT.
i want it so badly.
valentines day collections are officially my one true weakness in makeup. i love pink, sparkles, and hearts. so when you combine the three, it's deadly.
