How do I monetise my vrignity???
All of you except maybe Tryp are answering this in a really simplistic way. Of course it's always been done to an extent but in the past there's been more mitigating circumstances against men doing this, biggest of all being that people couldn't always be anonymous... because if some fool was lonely and paid a prostitute or someone to keep him company, that would be HIM in the flesh, and if word got around of him doing that. Also, it's often illegal. But now online, people just do it anonymously in a cyber setting AND it's legal so there isn't those factors.
And I think there's a huge cultural shift going on due to the internet.... it seems to have started a massive thot movement, like the sexual revolution on steroids. Thots are more shameless than ever before and I really think the internet has something to do with it. It's just the perfect environment for clout chasing.

Usually it's totally insubstantial, it's just someone reacting to a donation because that's the appropriate thing to do. But they get 10 in a minute, the streamer doesn't really give a fuck.I actually thought of that when making the original post. Yeah, it's kind of a shame on mankind to see it going on. This is exactly the kind of shit I'm talking about. OF COURSE we've always monetized loneliness but in 2020 there is something different about the way it's all happening, it's like an evolved version of it.... and sure it happened always online but for whatever reason this is the year all of it blew up.
Tryptamine said:The reason why the term "simp" is so big right now, is because the culture is picking up on that behavior a little. I think it's a dumb term, but it does manage to convey something.I have noticed many terms that used to be relegated to fringe manosphere circles being used virally this year, it's kind of interesting to see.
Responding to this post.
Prostitution happens to be illegal in USA, but it's legal in many parts of Europe. In fact an old user here from England, Macaria, she was into pornography for a while and ended up doing "escort" work. And she seemed pretty content with it, except when people would mock her. People have interacted in this way probably since forever. Men have that primal urge, and women are willing to indulge as long as they don't feel cheated. It's a cheapened way to feel a sense of connection, but a real one as old as recorded history. I'm not intending to diminish it either; there's something obviously meaningful about that happening.
The donation to streamers thing is nothing new. I think that got big around 2013. And then a lot of people seen that they could subsidize themselves by eliciting emotions from people, and so many streamers became fake. Since you seem somewhat familiar with the platform, I'll toss out GreekGodX and Mizkif as examples. They are always doing shit they know will get clipped and posted on Livesteam Fails, and they intentionally farmed the shit. It's sad to see how fake a lot of streaming is. And streaming has become more popular, so I kind of get why you're saying it's happening in 2020. It's definitely a big thing now because of COVID-19. And I still disagree with people donating to millionaires, and also with millionaires being OK with that.
I think the fringe manosphere terms cropping up aren't that surprising. A large amount of people have been getting into the red pill shit. Then there are figures like Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro that really normalize or substantiate those views. Things have been going this way for a while.
