Why here in particular though? There's a lot of internet out there and I'm sure you've seen at least some of it.
Live chat.
Discord, IRC servers, even Skype offers that stuff.
There's also other forums with active chat servers, like Kiwi. Why here?

For me however, I just like the marketplace of ideas.
Liking that means a willingness to withstand every idea.

Calling kiwi's chat "active" is more than an overstatement. They have hundreds or more members than us, but only 1-2 comments in chat for spans of days. There is no continuous conversation there.
SC has a strong core user base, but aside from it SC is a very transient place. New users come and go and with them comes new sagas and stories in the SC mythos. For some, their story ends tragically. Others just get fed up and leave forever. Some were backstabbed, some were doxxed, some got up and took a walk.
This is a topic that seeks to answer the question: Who left, why did they leave, and is there any specific thread that connects these people who leave? What can we learn from them? And will you perhaps end up like them someday?
This is a perplexing question.
Some here will remember the times of Obsidian, Etzel, Wooster and Mr. O coming on here. Around the time Synthetic was an active user as well. Others may remember the Aurora and Nina phase. And even in between those two points there were so many characters, like the dude who wanted his sister to shit on him. Or FireMeetsIce, he was very obnoxious. And there were many phases after what I described that all involved new people.
I can't tell you who left, because so many people have left that it overloads my brain trying to answer that question.
I would say generally they just "move on." A lot of people use this site as a means to socialize, and when they see that reach its end, they leave. Some understandably don't like the toxic environment. Some just become bored of things. Others grow tired of how people here interact. Others think they have become too mature to interact on a place like this. Others get doxed, so they have to leave. Others see others get doxed, and so they leave.
There's no easy answer.
many girls tend to leave after their nudes are posted, usually their posts slowly dwindle to a complete stop (scarlett, raven, piles), or when they're doxxed (thesocio, rass' grey pussy, that one guy with blue hair, emily).
a lot of people leave when their ego is badly damaged (repair -mod fiasco -, helena - the weird narc girl who claimed many young daughters are 'seduced' by their fathers - piles, sistematic most recently) which is fun, esp when they return and pretend to have no knowledge of their ego's battering.

TS's dox was some funny shit. He was all up on here acting like a badass, then everyone was making fun of his DUIs. Then he got paranoid and had to leave. Good times.
lack of sex appeal
Yeah, Discord thots are dime a dozen and generally easier than other fare, otherwise Tinder's a faster booty call.
