On a serious note though, I actually like obsession. Life's so dull without something that's bright and shiny enough to distract from it, and as it goes on you can become more of an expert in said obsession. It's also one of the few forces that has the strength to withstand the critic of conventional thinking.
I'd say that my life could stand to have more obsessions in it, not less.
For your information, I could stop it any time that I want to.
I just don't want to.
Of course, clearly you're one of the responsible obsessives!

my obsessions are many, some good, some bad.
right now i have an obsession with the coronavirus. i even have these fantasies about becoming a virologist.
i get these vision quests and i cannot stop them. a clear picture in my brain about how things will be in the future.

It's more like...
There's always more to something, always, but obsession doesn't let you just stop digging. To not have obsession is to possess a reason to otherwise give up.
I'd argue that the majority of our advancements in history were the byproduct of obsession.
