It’s a risky job. Not worth it in my opinion, like unless that’s the life you want to live- (and put your family through)
but if it’s not already your job (i.e a reconnaissance officer for the gov.) then, it’s probably best to stay out of it as best you can.

If I'm at the point where I'm serving jail time and have friends who have done a similar prison-worthy crime that I could rat on for less time?
I probably stumbled into crime in this hypothetical from not having another source of income, meaning that was my food, rent, etc. A minimum security prison has less dangers present than living on the streets, will feed you, and some even let you watch TV or play D&D.
