That's not a new story. Ronan Farrow - the guy who busted Harvey Weinstein - talked about it in the Catch and Kill podcasts. The National Enquirer tried to buy the story for Trump so it couldn't be published.

This is likely why people have idolized substances that lower their intellectual functioning: It's like being stupid within controlled conditions as opposed to all the time. 

Even much of Eastern religion that focuses on meditation and the like are trying to find ways to switch off the brain, to turn off what my father's otherwise called "Too-Many-Mind", a hindrance when it comes to reflex-based needs in martial arts and other activities like it. 

People these days seem to call it Analysis Paralysis, probably because it rhymes. There is a sense of suffering that comes from too much mental energy.
