Of course you'll excuse what he does, he's your singular obsession. You'd forgive him if he murdered one of your family at this point.
If you are the Earth, then he's your Sun that you orbit around, the light and glory that lets your crops grow and your creatures survive.
You will let anything he does pass, and he knows it. He has no reason to be afraid of you, not one bit, so you will never be able to force his hand into doing anything. He doesn't want you back either, he just likes watching you go crazy, and you're giving him everything he wants.
You're his puppet, his plaything, and on some level that's where you believe that you belong.
