Large Ebola outbreaks new normal, says WHO

The world is entering "a new phase" where large outbreaks of deadly diseases like Ebola are a "new normal", the World Health Organization warns.

Previous Ebola outbreaks affected relatively small numbers of people.

But the Democratic Republic of Congo is dealing with the second ever largest outbreak, just three years after the world's largest outbreak ended.

The WHO said countries and other bodies needed to focus on preparing for new deadly epidemics.

For the time being these things are contained to Africa. But as the climate shifts, bugs that carry deadly diseases with them will move further and further up north. I know this because its already happening over here, exotic species of bird and insects are spotted in Europe that previously couldn't survive here due to the cold. It's only a matter of time before something very icky pops up in Europe.
