I generally avoid servers like that. Discord doesn't offer anything more than chatrooms and vc, and is inconvenient to look back at old conversations.

Also, why would anyone pay for an SC discord when the website is free?

I ran an iteration of this and I could run another. The problem in my experience wasn't getting the bots to work or the server set up, in fact others mostly did that for me. The problem was that it was like a hornet's nest, and the moderation was NOT easy. Between gore pics, child porn, and people freaking out over any and all moderation, blowing up my inbox over dumb shit and people turning against me over any decision I made...and then having to control things like where a bot can go, who can be allowed to move it, etc. I'm not in a hurry to do that again.

It's easy to set strict rules. But since a lot of people here are antagonistic, it almost runs counter to the point of having such a group. We may be just better off raiding other servers like we have been.

You basically have to download a script for saving shit, especially since people can otherwise just delete the things they've said as a paranoid insurance move. 

It really shows who they are once they start deleting chat history. It's sad.

This format also invites more effort in the replies, too. The only real advantage to the Discord format is the room for someone to make an emotionally faster reply, but it also from shorter messages carries less room to build themes and subtext from the existing context, and shorter, faster reply platforms give room to be pettier. 

This format's rigidity also makes it easier to look and sort through for digging up older replies, and from it's illusion of permanence we've built a culture out of it.
