For the sake of discussion, why not care about how others on a forum see you?

If online appearances don't count because of the physical distance, what does that say about your real-life interactions?

The interactions matter, it's more about how people process them.

So, like what Jim said, if the people would not be offended, there would not be any incentive to do more. He's giving everyone the cheat codes right now.

I promise you that if it's not a name change, it will be something else. We have been constantly inventing ways to create cruelty and abuse, and we even keep the site going under different people to keep it going.

Reflecting on what TC said, "why care what others think of you?" That becomes crucial. Because if you're not self-confident, people will sense it. And they will harp on it and cause real life damage.

But you become immune just by adapting. Like I got drunk last night and said some retarded narc shit like I was too smart for everyone or something. And then I got properly roasted. But I moved on, it's ok if I fuck up now and then, or even all the time. Some people gotta chill.

Frankly, I think the potential for it to hurt demonstrates the room for growth. It's like a stress tester on our self-concept, a critique on the dissonance between our believed sense of self and the self that we see demonstrated.

If one moves on too quickly, they're liable to repeat the behaviors. It has to hurt or it didn't mean anything.
