Probably not a lot of cum, which is disappointing in a way. But the cum has to come from various dudes cause we need genetic diversity, can't have our colonists get to be Alabama residents.

 Cum is too risky, what if the dud sperm are the ones that reach the eggs? We don't want a bunch of Forrest Gumps to be the ones colonizing our new planet. Instead of sending gametes to be fertilized on the new planet, fertilize the eggs first and only send the best zygotes. Assuming a 40% success rate, similar to ivf implantation here on earth, decide how many babies you want your first colony to start with and multiply by 2.5 to get the approximate number of zygotes you will need.

 Not really how that works, but you can clone females from females. Men don't have a second X chromosome to supply and without it you get a deformed, infertile clone.

 She wasn't a clone, god created her from Adam's rib, but he also created Adam from dust and dust doesn't have DNA so obvi god did some genetic engineering when he made each of them

Peach is correct, the shotgun approach to genetics would turn the Mars colony into a bunch of Alabamans. This won't happen in our lifetime anyways, so fuck it.

Maybe Alabamans are who we need to colonize Mars. 

The fact that those who move out to colonize other worlds in our system and beyond will likely be more intelligent and fit than the average person given their selection will be based on merit. If they breed naturally you're likely to obtain a small population of above intelligence and fitness. 

This of course becomes complicated when you start thinking about environmental pressures. How will a developing child be effected while living on a world with only 38% the surface gravity of Earth?
