Lol I used to break thermometers and drink the silvery liquid pretending it was unicorn blood. Not as poison as people want you to believe.
It's not poison like arsenic, it can't be passed from the body and as it is stored it causes damage over time. The phrase "Mad as a hatter" exists because felt hate were worked with mercury. Long term exposure to mercury drove hatters mad. Inhaled mercury fumes destroys neurons.
