Some of it reminds me of music you would hear in the background, a movie soundtrack.
Tangerine dream did a lot of movie soundtracks, such as Legend, and even some of the GTA 5 OST
If anybody is interested in Krautrock, the history is pretty interesting. This was the first generation of Germans born after the end of WW2. They were very ashamed and there was no sense of German pride due to the horrors of the Holocaust and so, in an attempt to create a new German identity this new generation created some of the most experimental music ever made. The asshole British press called to "Krautrock" to demean the German artists and they eventually just owned it as the the official term for all of the Germans participating in this experimental craze. This time period was short but very influential and some of the stuff that came out of it influenced genres to come. In particular, it was very influential to the electronic music genre as bands such as tangerine dream and kraftwerk made some of the earliest works of electronic music.
There are several subsets of krautrock. The most prominent one are bands like CAN and Amon Duul and they're pretty good but, the better Krautrock in my opinion is the really weird cosmic droning psychadelic shit because it's so original and fucks with your head.
Case in point- Cluster's self titled debut; not for the faint of heart.
I'd imagine this is what being insane feels like.
