It's good if you find a place that doesn't overcook it, like I'd done when I was a kid visiting the place. 

Still, Deep Dish or GTFO.

I'm talking about a pizza pie, not a pizza quesadilla. 

I still dont know how they get the pies so damn greasy in pizzarias...where is all that oil coming from, even in the best pizzarias it's still an issue

You need to find real pizza places. It's not just Pizza Hut that does stuffed crust if you check random small businesses, and many places are surprising for how great they are at it (one of my better pizzas I've ever eaten I found at a campus bar).

Calzones are wrapped on themselves, and the breading is entirely different.

Having the tomato sauce on top has the ingredients cook and taste differently too, and can allow for much larger portions for ingredients. By having the cheese between the sauce and the bread, the pizza holds itself together surprisingly well and the cheese gets a different, somewhat wetter consistency. 

This is a proper pie, one where you can find yourself choking on a combination of bliss and cheese. Even before I tried deep dish, that was the mark of good pizza to me.

More food images need to be in gif or video form. The flatness of a photo makes food look deceptively less appetizing.
