if you don't want you cupholders in your car to get dirty just put cups in them to put your cups in.
I also use one cup holder for my glass cup which I fill with change
so that way I can just move the glass cup when I need to, take a cardboard cup from the stack I have in the front, put it in the spot, then put my cup in that cardboard cup.
so you literally never have dirty gross change, or dirty gross cup holders.

I also keep a zip plastic (durable long lasting, not like a flimsy breakable ziplock bag) to put the extra change into when it stacks up too high or whatever. you never know when you need extra change so I keep it in the car
