Why is Drag Queen story time hour at libraries a thing

I was called 'TRANSPHOBIC SHIT' before being promptly banned from a server for questioning this? As far as I know crossdressing for entertainment isn't a sexual orientation, it's more of a fetish?

Drag Queens are entertainment, it's the caricature of females at the most extra setting. These are usually Cis gay males doing it for fun. They're not trans. They're not struggling with sexual/gender identity. They're basically theater kids gone unchecked

Based on what I've seen in videos that advertise this sort of thing it seems more about educating children about gender and sexuality. I've seen more examples of the former but i have seen drag queens read books that talk about different types of relationships e.g. man/man, woman/woman, etc. The drag queen just adds to the woke factor plus they are professional entertainers so they probably have an easy time keeping the children engaged.

Drag queen does not equate to transgender so I don't see how one could argue that criticizing it or merely questioning it makes you transphobic. I like how you put it "theater kids gone unchecked", that really is what they are - actors who use shock factor.

If you think about it drag queens are the most honest expression of all that is fucked up with society's constrained boxes of what is male and female. It's the most extreme and laughable display of polarized gender stereotypes. Drag queens are social warriors, tbh.  They mock everything even if they don't know it. They also have pretty legs.

It's the silence culture. If there is a perception that you don't agree with them, they ban and silence you. Don't you dare speak your mind about some marginalized group. You bad person, you! Hate speech equals hurt feelings speech. snowflakes.

Drag Queens are a celebration of leaving a closet that goes on for as long as they'd please with many making it into a lifestyle. It's as much "entertainment" as a coming out party of unknown duration, and many appreciate the energy of it more primarily.

They go loud so that they can silence the part of themselves that'd tell them to stop. Most people who've been repressed in an aspect for too long get about as fizzy as a shaken drink once you finally open it.

I wouldn't say the library reading bit's for entertainment (purely anyway), and from what little I've looked into it it seems more like a passive tolerance goal. They want kids to think it's okay to crossdress by doing it as garishly as possible. It also was bound to get attention during our current social politics, so it's also topical.

These are usually Cis gay males doing it for fun. They're not trans. They're not struggling with sexual/gender identity. They're basically theater kids gone unchecked

You don't have to struggle with gender identity to enjoy wearing the other gender's clothes.

Am I supposed to be getting on women's cases for shaving their heads, wearing less makeup, and putting on pantsuits and shit in the same regard? Why shouldn't gay men enjoy wearing women's clothes, or even straight Metrosexual men?

Drag's coming out of the closet doesn't just house Trans-issues, it's more about coming out and being able to do the things you'd once been so certain that you couldn't. It's yelling through a megaphone "fuck you" to every person who said they aren't allowed, including themselves, and many only dress the part when "performing" (making it not too different from theater).

I suppose using Nathan Lane in The Birdcage would be an ambiguous example... in that the lingo used to describe trans behaviors weren't as prominent then, but they tried pushing their feminine overtones with the word "gay" back then.

Edit: A better example is Ed Wood, either the person in real life as expressed through his (hillarious) movie "Glen or Glenda", or the theatrical presentation in the movie of the same name where he's performed by Johnny Depp.

He made a point over how he wasn't a woman and wasn't gay, yet found comfort in how colorful and soft women's clothes are, furthered by how taboo it'd be if anyone ever saw him doing it.

Yeah it's basically a costume party that some take more seriously than others, but they're usually torn somewhere between the irony of it and "honest" self-expression repression.

They fight as hard as they do to try to peacock how "over it" they are through celebration. If you ask me though, the phenomenon overall screams theatrical compensation, wearing clothes that make it okay to "no longer feel silent", that represent breaking their former shackles as blatantly as possible. Still, supposing how locked down their closet doors might have been... this expression's much healthier than it otherwise could have been.

It makes me wonder what will become of Drag Queens as we get closer and closer to gender neutrality acceptance. If it ever becomes garish to resemble a gender at all, they might still stick around.

They also have pretty legs.

A lot of feminine leg models in magazines have apparently been men.
