You can hear the nervousness in the pilots voice though so, maybe not a psychopath but, still a unique temperament who, belongs in these positions where being extremely calm under high pressure situations is a strong suit or, perhaps just comes completely naturally to them. 

 See I think a person could grow into a role and be totally chill with dying. You have to expect that one day you'd be gone in a horrible death smashing into the ground. Body parts would intermingle with your fellow passenger. So when the days comes, you would just say, "here it comes just like I thought".
