Pokémon pinups

ADVICE PLEZ
Hey friends I filled my store of maximum 300 Pokémon and I would like to make room for piplups event this weekend.

I thought I leveled up and transferred everything I could. Should I just sacrifice duplicates w/o intending to level up immediately .

I suspect but am not sure I want to collect ~100 piplups for the candy at the event

I could BUY poke storage but not ideal

Also I have Potions and Revives in the 50s and 70s, respectively.

I have about space for only 40 items now out of 300.

Since I have yet to battle or raid, if I get rid of these will it free up space I’m otherwise not using for more piplups ?
