Been thinking about this thread. Why do you think this is?
Rape is a major crime. Ignore may not be the correct word though. Maybe society chooses to internally acknowledge rape but keep silent due to rape being so really devastating to the individual. Maybe they just don't know what to say about it. A silent society in awe with uncomfortable empathy.
I’ve never felt like rape is ignored. Maybe certain instances are completely ignored but that’s kinda the victims fault. I’ve never even met a convicted rapist (to my knowledge) but pretty sure they are not treated well in general. Convicted rape is more serious than it should be imo.
